
Nouredin Messaoudi
Biography
Prof. Messaoudi studied Medicine at the University of Antwerp, where he graduated with the highest distinction. He then specialized in surgery at the University Hospital of Antwerp. He furthered his training with a fellowship in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal and the Centre Hépato-Biliaire Paul Brousse in Paris.
Prof. Messaoudi is the head of the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery and the coordinator of the Tumor Board for liver and pancreatic tumors at UZ Brussels. He specializes in the surgical treatment of both benign and malignant conditions of the liver, bile ducts, and pancreas. His doctoral research focuses on the role of immunotherapy in liver metastases from colorectal cancer. Additionally, he has particular expertise in minimally invasive robotic surgery.
He is a board member of the Belgian Society of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery (BSHPBS) and a Clinical Senior Investigator at the Research Foundation of Flanders (FWO). His current research at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel focuses on the application of artificial intelligence for the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.
Furthermore, Prof. Messaoudi teaches at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
